Tough And Smart On Crime
Fighting for justice is no small task and always worth the price paid for its pursuit. Join me in the fight not tomorrow but TODAY!
– Marilyn J. Mosby
Time for a new generation of leaders to step up!
She is such a light in a dark place for so many survivors. She’s keeping the torch lit for this legislation, for survivors all over Maryland.
I found her open-minded, interested, and taking her job very seriously.
She’s got a long career ahead of her. She is responsible for making sure justice prevails on both sides.
I believe that the state’s attorney used her best judgment, and applied the law to the facts. A prosecutor has the duty to charge when they think appropriate, but they also have the duty to dismiss when they appropriate.
She is seen as a role model by many people regardless of their race or ethnicity.
She really pushed herself to look at the criminal justice system from different perspectives.
Ms. Mosby has exercised her prosecutorial discretion equally with respect to all citizens.
I’m proud of our state’s attorney for letting the facts decide where things should go. She did an incredibly impressive job explaining how she came to the conclusion. It was a very well-done investigation, a very well-done process. I believe justice prevailed today.
Marilyn Mosby[‘s]… decisive action gives people in Baltimore some hope for justice, and officials and people across the country an example to emulate. Her act is not simply about this instance of police brutality. It symbolizes the progress towards “liberty and justice for all” that we desperately need.
2017 Legislative Agenda
- Fighting for Victims of Crime
- Targeting Violent Repeat Offenders
- Community First Focus -- Restoring Faith in the Criminal Justice System
The SAO supports laws that help prosecutors deliver justice to the victims of violent crimes. We have successfully fought for longer prison sentences for criminals convicted of second degree murder and enhanced protections for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Read full agenda here.
Nothing is more important than the prosecution of individuals who repeatedly commit crimes of violence against our friends, family, and neighbors. The SAO will leverage every resource— legislative or otherwise— to remove violent repeat offenders from our communities. Read full agenda here.
Protecting the community stretches beyond issues of crime and punishment. The SAO believes that permanent improvements to public safety will take hold when Baltimore City residents have stable employment; stable families and communities; and access to educational, mental health, and economic services when they need help.
